A lot has been made over the past couple of weeks about the Rev. Wright with his association to a wanna be presidential candidate, Barrack H. Obama. I really could care less about the musings of the guy cause he’s not my cup of tea. But, I do respect his RIGHT to say whatever he feels he must say, and I defend it as not only a constitutional right but a human right.
Having said all that I am disappointed with the political correctness police who decide what can and can not be said over the airwaves of public, mainstream, white America. “God Damn America” is very inflammatory to most people much in the same way that the word “nigga” or “nigger” is inflammatory to most people. To censor one and not the other is like saying we can pick and choose which freedoms we want to protect and which ones should be flushed down the toilet.
I don’t care what was said, or about whom, the color of any of their skin, or the tone in their voice. What I do care about is the freedom of speech granted all Americans, not just those from a particular ethnic group. And I’m not buying into the argument that “we’ve been putting up with it all our lives, so what if you have to hear it once in awhile.” Wrong is wrong is wrong.
Al Sharpton, and The Rev. Jesse Jackasson have decided that they and no one else should dictate was is allowed to be said on the public airways and that no one else has that same freedoms as they now enjoy- for it is only they and certain African Americans inflammatory and racial remarks. There is a new member to the dynamic duo, and his name is Rev. Wright. Dumb, Dumb, and Dumber. Each of the three with their own brands of acceptable brand vernacular.
Amazingly both Al and Jesse have been muted over the events surrounding the Rev. Wright. The self imposed voices for freedom and equality hushed at a time when the lime light I’m sure calls their names. There is no place in a civilized society for bigotry, for sexism, racism or any other “ism’s” that you can think of, including political correctness-ism.
One step ever so close to the censorship era of the Nazi’s. Show me a nation who stands proudly by its freedom of speech, then defends a knucklehead who bashes those very freedoms, and I’ll show you a great nation with balls, and who is worthy and deserving of being defended.
Watch what’s going on in your country, be diligent in maintaining your freedoms, and be careful that you don’t sacrifice them under the premises of political correctness.
