Why Americans love to hate America.

I have been lost in utter amazement over the past three years about the reasons so many of you actually seem to hate America. America can do no right in your eyes, everybody else in the world is right we’re evil. I hear the “We don’t hate America, just George Bush.” comments all the time now. Really? With approval ratings the lowest they have ever been for congress in it’s entire history, everything you deem wrong can not be placed at the feet of the President.

Not to be out done by our fathers and mothers in the realm of protesting it has become almost a challenge now to out do those demonstrators of the past. And with the mentality, I want my kid to be more successful than I was, it would appear as if some of you are trying to relive your youth through your children. Leaving us with this overboard pretentious behavior of militant caring and compassion.

We all root root root for the underdog. Everybody wants him to come out victorious in the end. It started for most of us with the story of David and Goliath- and he slew the mighty giant with one small rock. Or more in modern times, Rocky Rocky Rocky, always faced with seemingly unsurmountable odds and yet he always pulled out a win in the final moments of the fight.

America is Goliath. We used to be David but like the young man in the story we grew up to be what we always fought against. Like John Cougar Mellencamp fighting authority. So now how do we fight Goliath? How do we bring a giant down? Why would we want to beside to presumably feel somewhat better about the lack luster lives we ourselves have created?

So we bitch and we moan, because thats how we are. We demand this and that and when we don’t see it or get it in this moment, we throw ourselves on the metaphoric floor like a two year old in the store who you wouldn’t buy candy for. In the past mommy or daddy would swat the little behind, a way of discipling the little tike a reinforcing the development of needs verses wants which carried over for most of us into adulthood. But then the socialite liberal love crowd came along and with the help of “studies” found that junior would be more productive if we talked and hugged instead of swatting. Which was cool until the first time junior decided that he wanted something right now! It was to late to swat his butt because you let the love crowd pass some laws that made you a criminal, but by now he knew it too.

I didn’t mean to go off on the psychology of how the Socialist lovey crowd screwed up you and your kids but it is all relevant to why you hate your country. It couldn’t be more clear than it is today. The Fed decided it was going to help the market with a life line to the fifth largest broker house on the street, which should have been great news since they help by underwriting all kinds of businesses that provide employment for YOU. And, in this era of entitlements and hand outs it was on coarse for the way you expect your government to function. Of course you don’t believe in welfare, or entitlements and think no one should have them….unless there yours. Just one more bitch, one more moan. All the while you’re waiting, hoping against all hope that the rock hit Goliath between the eyes.

  • i hear ya.
but i disagree with you defense of the FED.
Its not helping and actually created the problem.
Of course, that’s a lot of money and reputation we’re talking about in that arena, so don’t expect many politicians or businessmen to come out and say that. It’s policy and the way things are run right now, why would they incriminate themselves?

  • First Thanks for reading, and driving the discussion with your comment.
I would have to say that the obvious scape goat here is the fed, they are easily blamed for the rise and fall of the market, when it is the market that actually drives the fed.
Its a big complicated mess we have allowed ourselves to get in. Markets correct themselves though so look to invest and make some BIG money, or didn’t you think that this is what it was all about?

  • I love it! Great post and a fresh expression!
    Grace and Peace,
    Ed

  • the market does not drive the FED,
    the Fed created the bubbles.

lol, i don’t expect you and i to figure this out in a few posts, or even agree for that matter, but i have yet to be convinced otherwise. it’s very simple really.
they have a giant counterfeiting machine and call it legal.

    thanx for getting back though.
i have resources to back up my claim.
one you could check out if you havent done so yet is Bernanke himself.
he does admit that the FED caused the great depression. of course, he thinks he can prevent one too by lots of easy money…..we will c about that. greenspan left just in the nick of time.
